Dear Members,
The "Retail Investment Package", agreed by the European Council in June 2024, introduces a new concept of "Value for Money" to ensure that investment products are offered to retail clients only if they offer good value for money. This concept could have a significant impact on the business models and revenues of retail investment product providers, including banks, investment firms, insurance companies, UCITS and AIF managers. Manufacturers may need to consider amending pricing or product features to make them more cost-efficient, while distributors may need to review their product ranges and consider their own revenue models.
In this conference, the speakers will guide us through the content of the Value for Money concept and its impact on the Luxembourg financial sector. As this concept is highly controversial, the speakers will address certain criticism expressed by market participants, including the ambiguity of the concept, its legal basis, the risk of reduced product variety and the focus on cost over performance. Additionally, the speakers will discuss how market participants can best anticipate and prepare.
